January 16, 2020 will mark 30 years I’ve been with the U.S. Small Business Administration. Just after the 25th reunion, after 24 years in the Office of Disaster Assistance, I was reassigned to the Office of General Counsel, Department of Litigation and Claims. A major change in the type of work, and the pace of daily activity and a large learning curve mastering the Agency non-disaster loan programs and the statutes and regulations that drive them. It was a welcome new challenge, and they keep throwing new stuff at me to keep me on my toes! Old dog learning new tricks I like to say. Anyway, my current plan is to retire at the end of 2021.
Personally, this month I celebrated my 15th wedding anniversary to Leslie. We do a pretty good job of keeping each other entertained and keeping life interesting, and we look forward to retirement down the road. Got back into boating this season to make the most of each (brief) Buffalo summer and to give me something to look forward to during the winter. Other than that, I lead a fairly chill existence, hanging with friends and family, enjoying some travel, the occasional adult beverage or two, weekly trivia matches, and watching the days fly by on the calendar, all to the sound of my body aging daily and the world getting weirder and weirder! Looking forward to the reunion, and to being reunited with the foods of Cincinnati!
Reunion Footnote: I was raised in Queens in New York City. You will have a Mets fan in your midst!
